Verizon launches the sturdy, overpriced Kyocera DuraXV LTE flip phone

Verizon's announcement that it will carry the Asus ZenFone V too us by surprise, but so does the quiet launch of a new rugged handset, the Kyocera DuraXV LTE. Both handsets are now available for purchase at Verizon, but since we've already talked about Asus's mid-range smartphone, let's see what the DuraXV LTE has to offer for the price you pay.Speaking of price, Kyocera DuraXV LTE costs $264 outright or $11 per month for 24 months, and no upfront payment. Although this is a rugged handset, the bad news is it's a feature-phone, so you won't be getting any advanced features.On the bright side, it does come with XLTE support and it should be sturdy enough for outdoor use. Kyocera says the DuraXV LTE is “an exceptionally durable, full-featured flip phone that protects against shock, water damage, solar radiation and more.”
Featuring a clamshell form factor, Kyocera DuraXV LTE sports an internal 2.6-inch QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) display and a secondary external 1.08-inch mono-color LCD display with 102 x 90 resolution.The feature-phone is equipped with a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal memory. It's also powered by a 1,530 mAh battery, which should provide up to 7.7 hours of usage time or up to 18 days of standby time.
